    EACH OTHER’S STORY (2011)
Here is an interesting blend of genre: a collection of original songs spanning 30 years in the careers of Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly, with a bonus track of a song Elwood wrote in 1966. Some were previously recorded, and on those we’ve added more instruments and voices.

Thanks to all the fine musicians who added immeasurable depth and warmth to this recording, to whom Aubrey and Elwood are forever grateful: Cathy Clasper-Torch on violin, cello, piano and vocals; John Cerrigione on bass; Heidi Cerrigione on autoharp; Kevin Doyle on percussion; Paul Dube on accordion; Morgan Santos on cello; and Alex Krepkikh on harmonica and tambourine.

Also thank you to the musicians who were with us during the original recording of some of these songs: Everett Brown on piano accordion; Steve LaValley on djembe; Rick McKinney on mandolin; Cari Norris on guitar and vocals; and Lisa Schmitz on guitar and vocals.

about

Problem With Words
Words and music by Elwood Donnelly, BMI ©1993

Originally recorded in 1994, this is the only purposeful duet Elwood has ever written, where the two vocals counter each other from both the physical and spiritual domains. It is a song of longing and hope for rejoining dearly loved ones in the hereafter while attaining peaceful acceptance here on earth until that day.
We've added violin and bass here.

lyrics

I'm going to sing you this song
Even though I don't know all the words
That never stopped me before
Even so, I don't know all the words

You won't be laughing when it is done
And you won't be joking or poking at fun
But I'm going to sing you this song
Until my sorrow is gone
Until my sorrow is gone

I'm going to write you some prose
Even though you won't know that I do
That never stopped me before
Even so, you won't know that I do

You won't consider the words that I write
And you won't be tactful or act so polite
But I'm going to write you some prose
Until my pining is through
Until my pining is through

Sing me a song
I don't care if you know all the words
Read me your prose
I'm aware of your problem with words

You were the reason that living was fun
And you gave me hope when I knew there was none
So I'll always be close at hand
Until your sorrow is gone
Until your pining is through

I'm going to sing you this song
(Sing me a song)
Even though I don't know all the words
(I don't care if you know all the words)
That never stopped me before
(Read me your prose)
Even so, I don't know all the words
(I'm aware of your problem with words)

You won't be laughing when it is done
(You were the reason that living was fun)
And you won't be joking or poking at fun
(And you gave me hope when I knew there was none)
But I'm going to sing you this song
(So I'll always be close at hand)
Until my sorrow is gone
(Until your sorrow is gone)
Until my pining is through
(Until your pining is through)
